The annual Fish the Bayou tournament is coming up this weekend, October 4, at the Larose Civic Center. The event, planned by the Dusty Richardel Memorial Foundation, supports the Louisiana Blue Collar Workforce with scholarships for local students. Join the fishermen as they weigh in their catches in 3 categories: Boat, Kayak, and Youth. Live music by Southern Cross, and the menu includes jambalaya, shrimp fettuccine and dessert. Get your glow on! Glow Run 2014

Get ready for the French Food Festival's annual Glow Run! Come in costume, come in reflective clothing or come with your body painted - just make sure you join us for the 3.1 mile run/walk at the Larose Civic Center on Saturday, October 25. The race starts at 7 p.m.Registration is $25. Proceeds benefit the Lafourche Chamber of Commerce and the privately funded Larose Civic Center.    Read More

Cajun HIbachi Cook Off & Car Show

The first annual Cajun Hibachi cook-off and car show will officially happen on Saturday, November 1st at the Larose Civic Center. The event is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Custom cares from Boneyard Kreepers Car Club will be part of a fun day of music, cooking demonstrations, a cook off contest and awards. Cooking categories are Fried Rice, Meat, Seafood, Dessert and Open. Entry fee is $50.Pick up contest rules and regulations at the Larose Civic Center or download them below. Started in 2005, Afterschool Care continues to offer a strong program in our community for students in Pre-K through 8th grades.Students are well-supervised as they play, do homework, and visit the library. Lockport painter Hank Holland chosen to create 2014 French Food Festival artwork

Lockport, La., native Hank Holland has been chosen to paint the 2014 poster for the 41st annual French Food Festival, a Top 20 Festival and the crown jewel event for the Larose Civic Center. His painting will be unveiled at the 41st Annual French Food Festival Oct. 24 to 26 at the Larose Civic Center.    Read More

Ted Savoie named Grand Marshal XXXVII of the 2014 French Food Festival Parade

Ted Savoie, the son of Sidney and Mathilde Savoie, was raised in Galliano, was a graduate of Larose-Cut Off High School and attended Delgado Trade School. Ted was not a stranger to the boat business because his father began his training as a rider when Ted was six years old. As he got older, his mentors became the captains of other boats. Deckhand, Mate, and Captain were all jobs Ted Savoie had until 1967 when he was taken into the office operations with United Tugs, Inc. working as personnel manager, port captain and runner. In 1980, Ted Savoie, Larbow Cheramie, and John Trosclair formed Central Gulf Towing, LLC and operate a fleet of tugboats.    Read More
